Crist Taking the Chinese Drywall to the Federal Government
April 7, 2009

The drywall emits an odor resembling "rotten eggs" and is causing the wiring in the homes, including A/C coils, to corrode. In some homes, the problem has been so bad that the residents have had to move.  U.S. Representative, Robert Wexler is urging Crist to declare a state of emergency over the defective Chinese drywall, and although Crist is not going to do that at this time, he has officially asked for the federal government to help study the health risks of the defective Chinese drywall that was used in building nearly 300 homes in Florida during the years of 2005 to 2007. Crist has also urged that the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention should be involved in the study conducted by the government.

As of right now, state toxicologists stated that the drywall poses no immediate health threats. Some builders, such as Lennar Homes is replacing the drywall in the homes free of charge. If you think you may be the proud owner of Chinese Drywall in your home, please call an inspector immediately!
