More on Chinese drywall in Florida
March 31, 2009

Just had a closing on 2006 built home in Spring Hill, Florida. After hearing about Chinese drywall causing potential problems in some homes built or remodeled (nationwide, including Florida) the buyer contacted the home inspector he had hired. The inspector had indeed checked the drywall in the attic where it was visible...no evidence there. Also there was no apparent odor of "rotten egg" in the house. Then the inspector had looked at every spot that may have copper or other metals to view (took plates off switches to look at wire ends, under sinks, top of hot water heater, etc.) he found no cause for concern in this home. While only a qualified professional should make the determination, it was a valuable piece of information for me when I view homes in the future.
